How to discuss bullying at work?
- Our golden rule is not to name the person as a bully. Name the deeds or omissions but don’t make judgement calls. In fact don’t call anyone names, ever
- Start by asking questions regarding the policy and procedures of your workplace.
- Even if you think you know the answer ask the question anyway. Why?
- There is an obligation on you to maintain a healthy workplace plus the duty of good faith and a relationship of trust.
- Human Resources or whoever you are talking to might give you a wider scope on the issues.
- Please make sure you highlight the fact that you consider the behaviour to be unfair, and
- that by bringing this fact to the attention of people in authority you are complying with your obligation under the Employment Act
- We could help you in one of our workshops.
