How to discuss bullying at work?

  1. Our golden rule is not to name the person as a bully. Name the deeds or omissions but don’t make judgement calls. In fact don’t call anyone names, ever
  2. Start by asking questions regarding the policy and procedures of your workplace.
  3. Even if you think you know the answer ask the question anyway. Why?
  4. There is an obligation on you to maintain a healthy workplace plus the duty of good faith and a relationship of trust.
  5. Human Resources or whoever you are talking to might give you a wider scope on the issues.
  6. Please make sure you highlight the fact that you consider the behaviour to be unfair, and
  7. that by bringing this fact to the attention of people in authority you are complying with your obligation under the Employment Act
  8. We could help you in one of our workshops.
