Is workplace bullying the same as school bullying?
- There are similarities in behaviour but one difference is that a high percentage of workplace bullying is done by someone in authority.
- Co-workers could also be involved in bullying.
- Often the company has rules in place in their Policy and Procedure Manual and other documentation but sometimes management is ignorant, unskilled or just wilful in neglecting their obligations.
- Employers and employees who are showing bullying behaviour are in breach of The Employments Relations Act 2000, The Health and Safety Act 1992, and the Human Rights Act 1993.
- Obviously children are not subject to these laws.
