Is workplace bullying the same as school bullying?

  1. There are similarities in behaviour but one difference is that a high percentage of workplace bullying is done by someone in authority.
  2. Co-workers could also be involved in bullying.
  3. Often the company has rules in place in their Policy and Procedure Manual and other documentation but sometimes management is ignorant, unskilled or just wilful in neglecting their obligations.
  4. Employers and employees who are showing bullying behaviour are in breach of The Employments Relations Act 2000, The Health and Safety Act 1992, and the Human Rights Act 1993.
  5. Obviously children are not subject to these laws.
