What are the signs or causes of bullying at work? How to spot bullying at work?
Here are some signs of a problem at work:
- General employee unhappiness.
- Negative atmosphere at work.
- Poor work attendance of employees.
- Poor feedback from employees on their managers.
- Increased resignations.
- Increased requests for short term holidays.
- Increased requests for sick leave.
- Employees attending work even when ill.
- Employees showing a lack of motivation and commitment.
- Employees shut down emotionally. One sign is affective blunting (not showing facial expression).
- Employees complain about physical pain while doing their jobs, e.g. headaches, muscle pain, and otherwise healthy employees complain that their health is deteriorating.
- Increased poor service complaints from customers.
- Tip
- If you are unhappy at work; make sure you are giving your health needs the highest priority. Speak to your GP if you are experiencing stress, insomnia and feelings of despair.
- Keep a record of these visits and of the payments.
- It could be of value later if you decide to claim should you leave the company.
