What is the definition of bullying at work or what could be considered as bullying at work?
- Bullying at work is when one or more employees are persistently crossing boundaries as set out by various Acts for Employment and Health and Safety Act.
- These behaviours (actions or omissions) must be unreasonable, and it must cause harm.
- The test if it is unreasonable is the test that the courts use, that of a reasonable person, in the same circumstances.
Note: No one in the office has the right to psycho analyse you and decide you think you are superior, you are deceptive, a manipulator, delusional, you are paranoid etc. Only a qualified professional psychologist can do this. Should this happen get in touch with your Human Resources department immediately and lodge a formal complaint. Make sure you have it in writing as you might need it later.
